Peachick Necropsy **WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURES**

Good job, Othman! That had to be hard for you.

I don't have enough experience to tell what was wrong with the bird -- someone else will have to do that. Did your friend who did the procedure notice anything?

One thing I thought I saw was that the crop was full, but did not appear damaged. Did you see any damage to the esophagus or crop? I didn't see anything obvious in the photos, but again, I am NOT an expert at this.

But if that's correct, if there was no damage to the crop or esophagus, then that means that your tube feeding with your improvised tube did not injure the bird. I know that was something you worried about. I'm still hoping you will be able to locate a catheter or something less rigid soon, but it must be a big relief that the tubing procedure didn't cause any injury.

I know you did your absolute best for this little guy. He didn't pull through, but I think you gave him more of a chance than he would have had without your efforts.

No, i haven't seen any damage to the crop, the guy who did this for me didn't know anything about birds, he surprised me when he said he will do it for me, i was just kidding when i asked him

I have looked really hard at these pictures, and I really don't know what I am looking for either. But, what is the browish or dark stuff that I see on/in the intestinal cavity? That does not seem normal to me.

Othman, did you find any part of the insides that looked like they had ruptured? I just don't remember the intestinal cavity looking that "messy" on chickens I have butchered....
No, i didn't, even so i don't know what i was looking at, the only think i thought i saw is that liver damaged, this are the two parts of the liver:

@q8peafowl , if you want, email all the pictures and video to me and I'll forward them to avian pathologist and see if he'll comment. My email is [email protected].

Thank you Kathy this is so generous of you, i will send you the images, but the video can't be sent by mail its so big, i will sent the youtube link.

Kathy does this liver appear normal to you?! I'm not an expert at all but this liver doesn't look like the other livers i have seen in google.

Quote: The liver doesn't look good, but it doesn't look like blackhead either, which is why I wan to send the pictures to the pathologist. In the picture I see the two parts of the liver, what is the third piece? Was that attached to the liver?

You are correct that is not normal and i see dead tissue in the cavity, it looks like some kind of internal damage was done killing the tissue and that dark stuff looks like stale blood IMO.
Is there any way it could fly into anything hard enough to cause this kind of damage or could this bird have been snake bitten?

This bird died from a sinus infection but was perfectly healthy other than that , i found nothing else wrong with her
