Congrats! I hatched out more hens than cocks last year so when people inquire about cocks I have to list the reasons why they should get a hen too.

Swap prices on chicks here (michigan) and the one I went to in Indiana (wolf creek in august) were pretty consistent- $10-20 for india blue chicks (depending on age in a 1-day to 3-month age range). A friend of mine picked up a 3-month purple pied hen for $35 for me. We regularly see yearling blues for $20-50. Older birds (3+ years) tend to go for $80-100 depending on the time of year, age of bird, and seller. Pied birds are typically $100-125ish. The opal chicks (3months) I've seen for $40-60, and I picked up and adult hen for $100.

When it rains it pours, literally. I haven't had a hit on my CL listing for two weeks, we get a good rain, it's muddy, really muddy, now I have a possible four pea buyers coming out today.

If what they say is true I may have to sell a few birds off that I was intending to keep.

I know how you feel i meet everyone at my gate when i sell my eggs never let anyone come on the premises for bio security reason but when i have big birds to sell i have them meet me over at my lot across the driveway and it gets pretty soggy over there with the rains, i am always scared folks will get stuck when they back off my driveway to turn around, i have tractors to pull them out but i HATE RUTS on my place PITB to refill and mow over. GOOD LUCK

Oh the trials and tribulations. The last couple that came here when it was muddy brought their two OCD kids.

They were running around like little banchees and the adults must have never seen new planted grass before, they thought that was the place to trudge through the mud.
