I'm very new at this. (So new I posted this in the wrong forum first time around - I'm a dummy). My neighbor has given me a few peachicks and eggs for the incubator - I've hatched three babies already! However, he also gave me a 5 day old peachick that can't use his left leg. The hock area seems swollen and he just lays down mostly - very lethargic. Is there anything I can do to help him?

If you can try to post pictures it would be helpful. Try to get the little one to eat and drink if it is lethargic. Dip it's beak into some water and see if it drinks. Then place it on the crumbles and watch to see if it eats. Sounds like a breach birth. The chick most likely hatched out the pointy end of the egg. Again any pictures will help big time.

I will try to get some pictures when I get home from work this afternoon. He is drinking water, but not eating. I even tried some of the gel stuff for new chicks. I really don't think he's gonna make it. All he does now is sleep. At least he doesn't seem to be suffering, I just wish I could do something to help.
