Hi everyone! I’m sure I’ve driving yall nuts with all the peafowl questions lately but I truly appreciate the help! I’ve had a lot of trouble this year!

Anyway, I have a peachick that is 5 days old. I’ve never hatched my own peafowl before so I’m navigating uncharted territory! This little one is in with 2 turkey poults because that’s all I had at the time. I’ve had a really hard time getting it to eat and drink, but it has slowly picked up. I have to get him out of the brooder and put him on a plate with the food and water to get him to eat and drink.

This morning when I did that I noticed the tiniest amount of blood in his stool. All I have on hand for coccidia is corid, what would be the dosage to give to him? Also, how in the world would he have gotten coccidia when he’s never been outside or even touched the floor?

Thank you for any help, I want this little baby to survive!!

I forgot to add in the original post that this baby is not on medicated feed. It’s eating game bird starter which I hope it ok, I’ve seen a lot of conflicting information on what to feed new babies.

Do you have the liquid or powdered Corid? Do you have a food scale that you can use to weigh the peachick? When I have one that's not eating properly or looks off, I like to weigh them every day. Peachicks should make daily weight gains. If they're not, you risk losing them.

I have liquid corid. I do not have a food scale but my daughter does so I can borrow it from her. How much should the baby be gaining each day? The only “off” thing I’ve noticed besides it not eating well is it keeps its eyes closed a lot. No droopy wings. It did seem to have a little more bounce in its step when I tried to feed it this morning but then I noticed the blood in its stool and freaked out just a little!
