one thing about the single factor w/e they can have few as one w/e feather and up ...plus some i had didn't show a w/e until their 4 th year.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! So when a person gets chicks they really don't know what they may have unless they know the blood line of the prior breeders? Deerman, can you look at the pictures at the beginning of this thread and give me your best guess as to what he is? I need to get a picture of the peahen. I truly do thank you so much.

you have a blue silver pied, yes remember all are w/e.

with time and you can learn little sign that help, with what a birds back ground maybe .

like spalding big give away is the crest....
split white , dark pied white flights , give you ideas at least only few type
w/e is the frost grey look of the feathers.
bs split some males have small area bs on shoulder

one i like are white....those with good records only will you know untill breeding.
more and more people are breeding pied in new colors....so a lot of those whites out there are really new color under those white feather.

true nothing recorded on back ground can't be 100 % sure..some show on the bird or their off springs.

but with time around the birds, you can get good at find those with other type ,color,or pattern in their back ground.

someone could sell be a 15/16 or 31 /32 spalding as a pure green , i wouldn't know, but i have friends that can tell by a pic. i never raised pure green

Hi.....I've had Peacocks for years and still wondering if there's a huge secret i don't know about raising Peachicks.I know they are very fragile and I do everything possible to keep them healthy and it seems it doesn't work. Some make it and most don't.I satrt them out on medicated chick starter keep them warm reducing teps as they get older also have a bit of terramycin in the water and have also kept them wormed and they still perish,it's very frustrating when you think you're doing the right thing I just want to know......Thanks so much

Deerman Can you help me by answering my question above I would really really appreciate it...Thank you!

Best to keep them off the ground in a very clean, warm and draft free brooder until they are at least three months of. You should also know that medicated feed is no guarantee that they won't get coccidiosis, so you should have a medication for treating that. What wormer have you used and how much did you give?

I also would *not* give antibiotics unless they were sick and then I would use something other than terramycin since many bacteria are resistant to it.

I've been using Wazine 1/4 tsp in a smal waterer..What antibiotic should I use
Wazine only gets roundworms. Safeguard or Valbazen would be better wormer choices. Antibiotics I would recommend are metronidazole for blackhead and Baytril for most other infections. Some people also like having Tylan. You should also have something like Corid or Amprol for treating coccidiosis.
