Peacock fertilized eggs

If you are in Vegas shipped eggs after March would be very risky eggs would develop during transit which even if they hatch you will have increased chance of leg problems. Buy chicks off Craigslist in June for about $25 for IB

I'm not really suggesting shipping eggs, maybe chicks if you're going to have anything shipped. Try to find breeder close to you, create a flyer and hang it in a feed store if they will let you if you can't find any peas on craigslist.

IMO 8 eggs is alot for one hen to cover, not sayen they can't but mine generally set on 4 to 5 and at the end of the hatch a hen can loose a good bit of weight if she does not come off the nest enough to keep her weight up making it difficult to cover a large clutch

My broody sat on eight inside the coop in July, she got breakfast and supper in bed every day.

Zaz, she is one very determined mother is what she is. It was her 3rd attempt of the year, and I kept getting eggs from my other peahens scattered around the yard. She sat on 3 but I kept sticking the eggs I found under her as well. I didn't think any thing would hatch, as she got off of them quite frequently. Since it was September she had developed a rather blase attitude. One hatched and she got off the nest to take care of the wee baby, so I put the other 7 under a broody silkie. Which means I have 6 October peababies in the house!!!

She is a 5 year old bs free range hen that lives to brood and mother. Unfortunately she lost her baby to something after only a week. At least they didn't get her, thank goodness.

She was giving me the stink eye after the 5th egg I shoved under her tho!!! :)

Wow thanks for the advice. I live in Las Vegas and live with my husband and youngest daughter. We have over 100 animals mainly muskovy Ducks and chickens. But also raise rabbits and goats and have horses. I have only 1 peahen "Puff" and she's only 6 months old. As far as peacocks here in the valley there is really only one place which is next to us that have India blue and white oeacocks. She gave me the chick because she had wind puff and figured she would die. But between everyone on BYC and info online I was able to save her. The woman wasn't happy since she isn't save her. Long story there. Anyways she won't let me have or purchase any of the chicks when they are hatched. So I decided to look further. I'm glad that you all are there in case indeed advice regarding the oeacocks. Thanks so much

There are lots of nice Pea-people... sorry the one nearby isn't so much

Maybe some of the California Pea-people can fix you up if you want to do a road trip... or maybe somebody in Arizona?

You can try hatching... just expect there will be losses. Some folks ship live birds, that can often be done safely, and I've found the post office folks are pretty responsive to the live bird boxes... Shipped birds tend to be a bit older and hardier, so likely to get there in one piece.

No, garden she was not!! She might have drawn the line at that! After her baby got killed, I tried to get her to adopt some of my mob of six but she wasn't having it. She is smart!

Fergy, if your still interested in the summer I can send u some eggs for postage and I little extra. Mine lay later in the summer than most tho.

Yes I would be interested. Please stay in touch. I do want to have some males and a couple more females. We are looking to set up an area on our property for parties, weddings and other stuff. There is a big call for that kind of stuff on a ranch. I just think the peacocks would make a beautiful addition to this. So let me know what you are thinking price wise. I would greatly appreciate it.
Fergy
