The peacock began brrathing hard, gasping, beak.open, tongue up between upper and lower beak. Then more gasping. Then louder gasping with kind of a honk sound. Throwing head up snd stretching neck like it could not breathe. Then began really jerking head up and down and back like a seizure. Then he took his last breathe.we just treated water around a month ago witn the worm virus med. Do you think it was gapeworm? Is there an instant killer of gapeworm.if bird is having an attack of blocked airway from them? Thank you. We understand this is called Backyard Chickens, but we also.had the same issue with a chicken and a duck a few months ago. 😯 we sincerely appreciate your help.😊

Sorry for your loss. It is possible that you have a respiratory disease passing through your flock. Mycoplasma gallisepticum or MG is common in most poultry. You can worm your poultry if you think that gapeworm is a problem. SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer can be given 1/4 ml per pound of weight orally for 5 consecutive days to treat for gapeworm, a rarer type of worm. There is a pea fowl forum here as well, and click on the green box to start a new thread:
