Peacock pheasants

Wow! And you are probably farther north than I am. The thing is that I just have a few large cages that would be difficult to poly, but that is a great idea. I did have an area for green peafowl with heat tape and heat lamps. So basically I could move them inside where they cannot go outside and they would be fine? Are peacock pheasants loud? How about impeyans?

You could put your peacock pheasants right in with your peafowl if the pen is big enough. The only time that any pheasant is loud is during breeding season(Feb-April).their sounds are neat not irritating and it isn't constint noise.I did have a site that you could listen to the different sounds of birds but when my computer crapped out I lost it.If anyone knows what site it is please post it.I believe it was a UK site.

Is it this website: http://www.xeno-canto.org/
I only ever used that for peafowl sounds. The thing is I am getting out of green peafowl because mine are not pure. I just have one left. I am using the area they spent the winter in for a broody chicken. That could work probably.

No that's not it but I will explore it.Do you go to the auction in Batavia?

I use to go there up to about 6 years ago.The prices went way up and all that was there for pheasants were goldens, reeves, and silvers. The first time I went there I bought impeyans for 35.00 each.I went home with 5 impeyans,pr of w.c kalij and a pr of swinhoe and I don't think I paid over 250.00 for all of them.I did meet Don Hungsinger and William Lloyd there, they are from Pa.These guys have very nice birds.I haven't been there since the power outage the day before the auction about 6 years or so.It could be longer the way time seems to fly.

Well you should go! It would be nice to meet you. Maybe if wanted anything you could bring it to the auction for me to buy... I agree there are more domestic birds at the auction now. There still are some interesting pheasants there. I think two auctions ago there were impeyans. I will also send you a PM.

Ill post pics of all the new birds I have coming as I get em in this fall when it cools down enough for shipping. Being here in Florida I dont want birds shipped to me if it s not cool enough on my end. Learned that lesson the hard way.
