thanks alotPersonally, I have a sneaking suspicion that "Charcoal" is actually a metabolic disorder, with the black feathers being a highly visible symptom. Beyond the fact that females are sterile (or have limited fertility, in some Spalding Charcoal hens), the birds don't live as long as do non-Charcoal birds. In effect, it'd be like breeding for "yellow eyes" in another species, without realizing that you're actually selecting for a genetic form of jaundice.
