On the sides I use a 1 in coated chicken wire and the top is a 2 in knotted flight netting made by toprite.

If you live in snow country and use the flight nets, make sure they have a LOT of support under the netting. A good snow storm will bring it down, and can cause the sides of the pen to collapse in.
