Are you sure they are not just breaking the eggs by accident? could be the shells are a bit week cause i know mine were hard as guinea eggs. do you provide them with oyster shells in case they need the extra calicum? i see mine pecking at the oyster shells once in a while. My little wenches ate yet another pea egg, so I am down to only 4 pea eggs. I gave them a good fuss and I yanked the eggs from their aviary, slammed the door and stomped away. I WILL NEVER leave eggs in there for more than 24 hours. They will never get the chance to set on eggs EVER . I'm so upset. So now I will have to put in only 4 eggs with guinea eggs and I hope that I get a few more pea eggs in the next few days. I will have a staggered hatch.![]()

Can you be out there to watch them lay? Pretty easy to tell when they're getting ready...
I give mine human " calcium capsules with vitamin D added" from walgreen--price $18/500. Vit D helps better absorption into peafowl system.. To lure the peafowl eat right away, I take 6 slices of white bread, cruble them, mix with 8-10 calcium capsules powdered, mix well. And then 8-10 table spoons of peanut butter . mix all of this very well, and finally add about 8 table spoons of water for easier swallowing and minimal wastage-- Instance cure for calcium deficiency and your next egg will have normal shells and prevents hens suffering from EGG BOUND Besides, we do not have to wait until peahens come and eat oyster shells and I noticed that peahens are not particularly interested in eating oyster shells RIGHT AWAY.
