Peafowl for 2013

I cleaned mine yesterday. I hope the girls can lay at least 4 more but if not, I'm happy with the 3 that I have.

The peas that hatched still look like they will be WHITE IB. I"m not sure how I got to be that lucky to have all whites?

With my luck, the colors will change, or will they?
How many white hens do you have? It's funny (actually sad), but the feedstore has 15 or more hens, but they've only had one chick hatch, and it doesn't look healthy.

White hens? Take a guess. 1 white hen and you already know who that is. :lau

When you say "handled", what do you mean?
Every time the hen got off her eggs I would candle and weigh them *and* the eggs in the incubator.

So you have no mature white hens? Since you wanted a white male, I'm assuming you don't have one, right? Does that mean that you got white from IB?

LEAVE THOSE EGGS ALONE KATHY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p :lau I set my eggs and forgot about them and 3 out of 4 hatched. Not a big number but still. I understand the importance of candling and although I give myself a D- at candling, I don't candle. I may have candled 1 or 2 times over the last 2 years of incubating. I do the smell check. If there is no smell, then I am not alarmed at any potential rotten eggs.

And no mature hens. Yes, I wanted a white male and perhaps one of these babies will be white. I wonder if there is a possibility that the colors will change. :idunno

And yes, I got white from IB. Here are the IBs (peacocks and peahens - the parents - 2 breeding pairs).

Okay, I see a white throat patch on one boy and white wing feathers on a girl. Is the one with the patch the dominate male?
