One of my boys still has *all* of his train and I still hear them mating.

Good luck with that. I'm dealing with problems of my own.September Chicks in Ohio? Help! My hen Lucy, already raised her brood this summer, and they've now gone off to their new homes. Thought we were done. Blue, apparently didn't think so. Lately, Lucy has been taking off all day and just stopping in for a quick brunch, then gone again. I'm assuming she's sitting on a nest somewhere. She's got a new ID Band on- and the local police have my number memorized. I'm bummed though, since her last two nests she chose to have at home, one- right in the coop. I can only assume that the increased chicken population here- drove her to nest off site. So, is this normal for them to nest this late? ... and do I really want to let this continue? This is Ohio. Should I catch her when she comes back for food tomorrow, and lock her up...? Of course if the chicks hatch, in say 24 more days I might be able to take them to the UPA convention on Sept 27! Going into winter, my coop just isn't big enough for 8 chickens and 2 adult peacocks plus chicks. Oh.... but I really... did want to keep a chick from this summer....but, now? Help.......What do I do????![]()
