Peafowl for 2013

Since this one was 2 days early, I knew that I could not leave it in the incubator until Friday, so I had to take it out of the incubator. It took about 5 seconds for me to take him out and the lid was back on. No other eggs had started zipping, so there shouldn't be and shrink wrap. I guess the other eggs will start pipping and zipping today if they haven't already. The pip that I heard the other day must have been this little fella. I wonder why he hatched 2 days early. That's way too early.

I had a few hatch the day before lockdown and a couple hatched the same day I locked them down.

Kinda makes you wonder what's going on with the eggs that some are hatching early. Especially when you put them in at the same time, :idunno

Here's my defective chick, it's another with a huge yolk sack, so it's having problems getting it's feet underneath itself. And look, it has a couple of white feathers!

Got that here, too, some hatching in 25 days, most in 26, a couple in 27, but none in 28. Next year I will take better notes.

Just checked egg #75 and #76 and they look like they have pipped internally or are just about to (no peeping yet). While I was at it, I checked the other eggs and it looks like #77 and #82 are bad. Might be because I ran out of broodies and put ten eggs under this hen and some keep ketting cold.
