Peafowl for 2013

Whites seem to be hot this year. They definitely are here in my area.

Hey guys, sorry I am totally ignorant about peafowl, only have chickens, but saw those GORGEOUS white ones in your pics!! Are they a different breed or albino-types to the normal ones? are they considered a domesticated species or game? where do they come from?what are they like as pets? which ones are more tame the girls or the boys? how about compared to chickens? sorry about all the question but am really fascinated now..

White peas are just a variation of the indian blue peafowl, they are not albinos.

They are considered game birds as they are related to pheasant
Indian blues like i have are from India

They are not pets like chickens or your dog er cat but when tames they will eat from your hand, but will protest if you try to pet them most of the time.

I have found both boys and girls to be the same , one is no more tame than the other and during breeding season my males act like they do not know who i am , they only have strutting and peahens on their mind.

IMO the only thing they have in common with chickens is they have feathers and lay eggs but they only lay eggs a few months out of the year.
Now where are you located ? mabe someone here is close and can fix you up with some PEAS

and I am only allowed one pet chicken anyway, but I just wanted to find out..for when I am old and retired and have a massive farm at the ocean in tanzania in 30 years time

All of them do, so I am hopeful! I feed startena 30% so they get the best I can give them.
My 2 older peas get game bird maintenance.
