PEAFOWL MAY/JUNE HATCH ALONG!!!!! COME JOIN THE OBSESSION!

Bugglesmommy thanks for your advice,i know HUGE RISK I took with shipped eggs, but time will tell if I have any sucess n if the end pointed end dwn vs the sides ones if I can get different results...hoping that I dont have to asist at all bc im away from home 4 straight days/nights a week

This is my first year using an incubator and only my second year hatching pea eggs, so I am *not* qualified to answer *any* incubation questions.

From everything I have read, most people
  • Store them pointy end down
  • Incubate pea eggs on their sides

I can tell you that last year, the ones under my turkey hatched in 26 days and the ones under my chickens hatched in 28 days. This year they've all hatched in 27-28 days.

Castportpony, well guess ill find out how this try will go,have had only 2 geese sucessfully out of about 20 something duck, geese n chicken eggs, but think I had to high humidity from get go,so now lower humidity from start hopefully ive learned something...lol
And these paid eggs will bring SUCESS!

Then you have one species up on me! I tried shipped goose eggs but failed. I think humidity was too low plus shipping damage. I will retry goose eggs one day. My goal is to hatch everything at least once. I have checked off chickens of many breeds from seramas to langshans, ducks, guinea, quail, and now peas.

Bugglesmommy well my geese were from my own stock along with turkey, ckn eggs n duck eggs, but my peacocks r straight from shipped eggs,n im,also trying shipped muscovy duck eggs.lol

My two cents: I was a first time pea hatcher with shipped eggs this year. I did my research and most said to incubate pea eggs on their sides (but some breeders have other ways, so it'll be up to you what you decide). I set the egg under a broody hen for the first couple weeks as Brad Legg says he does on his web site. Then I took the eggs and put them in my incubator and hand turned at least 3x day. Out of 3 eggs: one clear, one quitter at about 2 wks and 1 hatched with some helping as he had a funky air sack and couldn't get past pipping. Out of all my shipped eggs this year I started turning on their sides after the 12 hour settling period I gave them. The only time I didn't turn eggs the first week was when an air sack wasn't attached or moved down the egg ( this was for chicken and duck eggs I incubated) I also read that the first week may be the most important time to turn the eggs....but I don't have the time or $ to test that out :). So good luck and hope you find what works for you!

They are not the best quality but here!

3birdgirlz thank u for sharing your experience,i dont have $ to risk on trial n errors too,so I decided 2 on sidesn 1 pointy end dwn,n will start turning on 4th day in incubator,so I will update on progress n my experience,i also will candle them on 6th day to c if I can tell anything on eggs at all.

It's day 25 and two of three eggs are internally pipped, the third looks like it's almost there! Still have to check the four eggs under the other hen. :D
