Please, I need my sleep. Your peacocks wake me up all night long. I think they are beautiful birds but not in my backyard. Please silence them at night.

A fan works wonders here, i have around 60 to 70 peafowl at any given time they roost in trees not 15 to 25 feet from my home and they holler at night when they hear a sudden noise, the fan blocks the sound out but if your house is not well insulated you may need more than one fan

How exactly would you suggest we do that?

Good question.

Back in the 80s I had two dogs I did not want to breed as they were brother and sister. When the ***** went into heat I penned the brother who did not like that one bit. After a neighbor two doors down began to call and hang up in the wee hours of the night I started putting the dog in the insulated garage. That was still not enough to please the whiners, so they started calling the police. It struck me funny that when the police came to the door at three in the morning that they were apologizing for having to respond to a call that there was nothing that anybody could do anything about, but they were obligated to make contact.

What was not funny is that within six months all three of my dogs were dead, two of them from stomach cancer. I still think the neighbor poisoned my dogs.

I have two mature males that sleep on the deck right outside our bedroom, I don't notice them calling that much, but it is no different than having a dog that alerts you to 'something' being out there.

Cows moo in the middle of the night, donkeys bray, horses whinny, sheep baaa, dogs bark, cats hiss and scream, and they all do it in the middle of the night. Car's start, and horns honk, doors slam, alarms go off, doesn't matter if you are in the country or the city or the burbs, there will be noises in the middle of the night. If I had a problem with any of this I'd buy ear plugs and be done with it.

??? Does someone here actually live near you with peafowl, or are you just ranting and raving? I don't get the impression that most people here have peafowl in an area that they would annoy neighbors (though I could be wrong). I know mine don't. I bought as far out as possible specifically so I could have noisy poultry (and a pasture for the horses). I have no neighbors for them to annoy. Why don't you direct your problem to the person it pertains to?

idk who u r talking about but it is not nice to post this on a public site if u r referring to one person's peacocks.

U should go over and tell them urself in person and if its there property they can do what they want with and make as much noise as possible/ if they live more than a mile from you then id just get over it you do your thing they do there thing .

The good news is peacocks mainly call in the spring and summer time. The rest of the year they are very quiet. The same can't be said for just about all of the things Dylansmom listed.

Around here the only noise in the middle of the night that I complain about is when my Mom has a bad dream and she wakes the whole house up screaming bloody murder. I swear one day someone is going to have a heart attack.
