Well after some more research before worming I just got the Safeguard yesterday I found out it is an infection called Vent Gleet so I am relieved it's not worms! So now I have to bathe most of my flock in warm Epsom salt water which I would prefer to the worm treatment so I looked at causes & moldy feed is one of them so I think I gave them some leftovers that were a bit moldy causing my problem.Thank you for your help & wish me luck!

Sweet heart unless you get a fecal done at the vet saying they do not have worms is kinda silly, i mean you said they never been wormed before

The mold theory is interesting but that does not mean they do not have worms either, go ahead and worm them and bath them to clean them up , you are doing great by them

Who said they had vent gleet? And is it a bacterial or fungal infection?

I know it's smat to just worm them but honestly I am terrified of doing that  if I give just a little to much of that wormer they will die.I am scared I will give to much & find a flock of dead birds. We worm our dogs with that same wormer and everyone says to be extremely careful or we will kill them.

I said they have vent gleet all of the symptoms suggest it & it looks just like how my birds do.

Both of you are probably thinking well then go to the vet.I don't have an avian veterinarian and even if I did they charge so much where I live for the smallest things!

Safeguard is very safe, it's almost impossible to OD them on it. Anyone that tells you that worming dogs with Safeguard is dangerous is wrong, lol.

If you are talking about killing your animals with Safeguard, in scientific studies dogs have been given a QUART of Safeguard and it didnot kill them. New born foals have been dosed in studies, no bad results.

There is probably not a safer wormer on the market.

Worms will do WAAAY more damage to your chickens than Safeguard will.
