I have had a peahen for 2 years now and wanted to get more to keep her company and hopefully breed. So I bought 2 at an auction yesterday. Today I let them out together and notices that 1 of them is unable to place his "feet" flat on the ground and spread his toes. The other one is fine. I believe they are about 1 year old as they are almost as big as my other one but with smaller feathers. I looked on-line and saw split that can be made to help straighten them, but I am afraid it may be too late. However, I am an Occupational Therapist, and part of my training is making splits and I am an optimist! If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks, Linda

In all likelyhood, at a year old, their bones are probably set :\\ Even if they are not set, it would be very stressful to the bird to try any manual therapy for the foot/leg unless you bought some very friendly hand-raised birds.

How could someone take an animal to the auction that they didn't take care of. Well, a kind heart you have to buy them anyway,
Good luck in your endeavor. You might have to do some research about bird feet/bones you might become one of the forums new feet experts
. Good luck take pictures and start a thread to show progress.

I also thought with the age of the bird that nothing could probably be done. It doesn't seem to bother her and she keeps up with the other one pretty well. They are people shy so I don't think they were worked with much where my other one will eat right out of my hand. Thanks for the advice!! Linda
