Welcome to BYC!Dear guys
I have peacock 9 months old. His left leg twisted towards backwards and right is normal. Vet doc told that it's mareks. Gives aminox injection. Would dat would be enough. Is there any chance of recovery. Plz share ur experience and guidance.
well he has blue peafowl and i was gettin male and female for breeding
unfortunately he does have a slipped tendon and eventually will not be able to walk. There really is no cure when they are at that age. Granted a friend of mine has a hen who has it but hers is not that bad yet. Her bird's leg looks like a kick stand on a bike so she can still get around but when the bird's leg goes to far back she will no longer be able to walk. As the bird grows the damage to the joint gets worse and the bird will have to be put down. I put that gripping shelf liner in my brooder then place some pine shavings to help rid the chicks from slipping which usually causes this in older chicks. Some chicks are born splayed leg but taping and/or placing the tenton back in the joint with your finger tips helps and so does creating a nonslip substrate to walk on. Adding vitamins into the drinking water helps to cure it in young chicks too.Dear guys
