As long as it is still soft and squishy, it can be expressed from the eye without cutting the sinus open. It has been years since we have had to do this so it would take forever to find the photos. Part of the treatment and to keep it from happening again is to identify the cause, which is usually a dusty environment. Dust, mostly ground-up poo being breathed in, is the main cause of sinus infections. Good coop hygiene and ventilation will keep this from happening.

Back to expressing the pus, insert the index finger inside of the mouth behind the swollen sinus and press on the outside with the thumb. The liquid will drain out from the front of the eye. It is totally gross but less so than cutting into the sinus, which is the only option if the pus has hardened.
