peahen with drooping wings

If she looks like that for a full day and does not pass an egg you need to give her 5.0ml of calcium gluconate. If she still does not pass give another dose that evening.
Thank you very MUCH! So if she does not pass the egg do I wait around 12 hours for a 2nd dose per say? As of now she looks good thank goodness. I was so scared for her! I love my peas so much!!

When I notice a hen looking 'eggy' in the morning I assume that she did not pass her egg the previous night. I like to give the CG right away and if the egg has still not passed by evening I give another dose. She will usually pass it after the second dose if not the first. If it continues then we start to worry.

Great thank you!!

@KsKingBee Quick question... Is there any kind of supplement that I can give my girls to help them pass the eggs? The same hen is again for the 3rd time egg bound and this time she has not passed it in 28 hours so I dosed her as you suggested. Any advice is appreciated!

She needs more calcium in her diet. You can add a bowl of oyster shell but hens are picky and they don't always eat it. You could also get some chicken layer that will have about 4% calcium in it. Normally peas only need about 1.5% calcium and a high calcium level will damage peacocks kidney if they eat it on a regular basis.

Thank you! I will make sure to take it out of their pen when the boys come in for the night so they don't eat any.

This hen is driving me bananas because she is still drooping the wings slightly at times and I have given her 2 days in row the calcium gluconate 2 times. When I held her to give her the meds I flipped her upside down and felt her abdomen and around the vent and felt no egg. (Not that I am a vet). She is not lethargic and doesn't want me to pick her up. Is there anything else that would make her have droopy wings?
Also, speaking of Vets... None of the Avian vets near me will take Peafowl due to bird flu! I am at a loss and don't want to lose her if this turns fatal. I have increased calcium and gave crushed Vitamin D. I also have her on a layer feed and have been giving her crushed egg shells with boiled eggs and a side of oyster shell and KIWI. This is so frustrating. Sorry to be a pain!
