I know we kind of got off topic

I have no problem with teaching about different holidays at school.

I think schools should touch on Christmas, Chanakuh(spelling), Kwaanza, and all other mainstream religions.

When I was a kid growing up I always loved learning about Passover and Chanakuh. Potato pancakes, dreidls,menorahs...etc. I am Catholic, and I thought it was neat to learn about other people who happened to go to school with me. If people aren't taught about our differences in school, how will we learn how to treat our neighbors who are different than us? If schools don't teach these differences, it is easy to be ignorant and hate anyone who is not like us. When schools teach us about our differences it makes us more understanding and tolerant of other religions. I say celebrate everyones beliefs, we are a melting pot and let us all simmer together and make a better recipe! No one is trying to make you like them, it is just teaching tolerance of others!

The class is called Social Studies for a reason!!!!

As far as the peanut allergy, my boys go to a school where one child has a peanut allergy, This child is in my oldest sons class. My son can not eat or bring in foods that contain tree nuts peanuts oils etc. I feel this is UNFAIR and expensive as we can not even send foods that havebeen processed in a factory that use peanut. On the other hand I do NOT follow the "rules" for my youngest in kindergarten because he is diagnosed with sensory disorder and only eats about 7 differant foods at this point. Three contain peanut products and a Dr note stating my son is to eat these foods in and out of school as ALOT of foods he throws back up do to many reasons. Nothing has happened to this child with the peanut allergy and my youngest eats a peanutbutter sandwich EVERY day at school.

it only makes no sense to you as long as your in the majority, it makes sense if you are the minority being told what religion to pray to

It always amazes me how easily people can get OFF track. I don't recall the OP saying anything about religion. So why do people go there?

That being said I also agree with Royd, something is causing all these allergies/ lactose intolerance/asthma. While we are at it seems like ADD/AHD and learning disabilities are on the rise.
I personally wonder if its our eating habits. Growing up McDonalds was a very rare treat today it is standard dinner for some. Food and even milk was purer. Meals and desserts where made from scratch and mom did not use high fructose corn syrup, genetically modified food and the milk was not stripped of all the enzymes. There was not microwave meals because microwaves where over $500 to buy. By the mid 80's fast food, processed snacks and microwaves became popular. There is 6 years between my brother and I. He grew up more in the start of the processed food . He has allergies his daughter does too. My sister who is a heavy processed food eater has 3 kids all had learning disabilities and a lot of ear infections upper respiratory infections. I do not eat a lot of processed foods and did not feed my son them .He has never had allergies or ear infections/upper respiratory infections(and I smoked)

I saw an article on TV that said that kids who get in the dirt are less likely to suffer from Asthma. (paraphrased of course).

I have a steel plate in my head and everytime a microwave is used , I p^&& my pants and forget who I am for a half hour. So I stay away from the food court in the mall. It can be very embarrassing. Maybe I can get them to ban microwaves?

I keep the microwave in the john at home so I can heat my TV dinners when DW isn't home.

I once, ok twice studied with the Jehovah's witnesses and they don't say the pledge or stand for the national anthem. Funny, the ones I knew could get drunk, lie and cheat on their spouses and divorce as much as they liked. Still I say "Hey you don't want to say it, so what"?
Course some Christians do the same.

Makes no never mind to me. I just gotta answer for me. But we sure did get off topic from nuts to religion. What's that all about?
