Peas pacing

I need some advice please. In January my peas got their new spacious pen in our back yard and were moved. They seemed happy and I still think they are happier as they can practice flying and have wonderful perches. The problem is they spend most of the day at the front end of the pen looking through the space under the house to the front yard. Until the new pen they were housed with my chickens who now roam the front yard. Do you think the peacocks miss the chickens? I have thought of moving the chickens to the back and let them roam the back yard beside the peas. What do you think? I hate to think they are unhappy and I feed the hens a natural daily wormer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My peahen Ice sometimes paces the end of her pen that connects to the peachick pen. Peafowl are really social and they like to be near other birds so if they see other birds they might start to pace their pen trying to get to the others. I think you are right and they do probably miss the chickens and feel like that is part of their flock. Letting the chickens roam the backyard might help.

Thanks MinxFox. I think we will move the hen house this weekend if we get a day without rain. I'll just make sure I keep up with the worming. I want them happy. I'll post pics later. Again, thank you.

Your welcome!

Hopefully they will stop pacing.

It might be easier to put a barrier along the front of their pen so they don't think they can get out there.

Exactly. There should always be a sight barrier up- fences make no sense to animals- it actually stresses them out to pace as they become increasingly desperate to escape to some spot they like outside their enclosure.

Thanks for the advice. Will put a sight barrier up around their enclosure tomorrow afternoon. I had been thinking about it so you convinced me. Thank you.
