Peat moss as bedding for ducks? Good idea?

Is using peat moss a very good idea for my ducks? I’ve heard a couple of pros and cons about it, but my biggest concern is that it may create bad bacteria or cause respiratory problems for the ducks. I do have pretty good air ventilation in my coop, so that may make up for it. Thanks in advance!

Peat moss is basically dirt. I've used it successfully in brooders for chicks in addition to pine shavings as a dirt bath. It's dusty, but no more so than a lot of bedding.

If you use it where the ducks bathe, it will get wet and could grow bacteria when combined with duck poop. Depending on conditions, it could also get moldy if it gets good and wet.

Ducks and dryness don't usually go together.

Yeah, you’re right about ducks being masters of making wet messes. Sounds like I may be better off with hay and pine shavings.
