Hi we have 4 buffs which we adore however the last day we have noticed 2 of the four are bleeding just below the vent. We have separated them from the others during the day as they are being pecked is there anything else we can do

is it where the belly button is? u can use corn starch if its actively bleeding if not i would put some triple antibiotic ointment on it. make sure you dont use the cains/ pain reliving kinds as they are toxic.

Welcome to BYC! How old are these birds and how much space are they in? I would watch them carefully to see if there is one bird who is instigating this behavior and if so, pull that bird out for an extended time out, like a week. Then put her back in and see how it goes. If they are in a coop/run all the time then make sure to add plenty of distractions like flakes of alfalfa to scratch apart, toss in some scratch or meal worms with the hay for more foraging opportunity, dry leaves to scratch through, that type of thing. Ideally time spent out of the coop/run in a large yard or pasture.

We have had them since October last year they started to lay for the first time at the end of January so they still maturing. I'm going to our local pets at home to get some stuff to spray on them. We have separated the two that are bleeding in the day then they all go back together at night in the coop. They have enough room and we put plenty of things on with them so they don't get bored and we let them free range in the garden when we are home.

Do you think this will always happen?
