Pecked ear. Need advice.

My favorite hen has had her ear pecked. I found it yesterday when doing afternoon chores. I have washed it with warm soapy water and slathered triple antibiotic ointment on it. She is in the laundry room till the swelling goes down. I think it bothers her to open her mouth. Is there anything else I can do to make her comfortable?

Any advice?

How do you know it was pecked, and isn't an ear infection? I can't tell from the pic. You are doing the right thing by taking good care of her. If there is drainage, that is a sign of infection which would need antibiotics.

She has a hole with a flap of skin on the bottomish part of her ear. Swelling has gone down some and she is eating a little. I'll keep her in another day. She will be happy, it is snowing like a jerk.
