I made the mistake of putting my silkie hen with her chicks in with some other chicks all in the same brooder. My silkie went and got all bent out of shape and started terrorizing a couple of the older chicks, particularly my one buff polish girl. She got her wedged between the wall and a board and pecked her head, back, and a wing. While her back and wing will be okay, it's her head that I'm concerned about. I know the dome is not solid and head injuries in polish and silkies with domes can be more dangerous than the average chicken. I'm really anxious about this. Are they tougher than they look or do I have a serious problem here? The chick is alert, although a bit traumatized right now. I have her separated in a cat carrier. Mom has been kicked to the curb.

so long as it is showing no neuro symptoms (circling head bent forward or crooked onto its back or walking backwards) I would not be sorried...jsut keep it separate till the wounds are recovered.
