My Pekin (Cochin) cockerel crowed for the first time as a 5 week old chick!

But he only did it occasionally until he was between 3-4 months old and then he’d do it many times each day.

Mine were all crowing pros by 6 weeks old, even the half pekin/half leghorn one!

Mine started crowing around four months but his half Pekin son started at 8 weeks. It really isn't a breed thing so much as an individual bird thing as to when they start. My other cockerel of a different breed started crowing at 13 weeks. Most cockerels start crowing anywhere between two and five months I would say.

Do any look different comb and wattle wise or are they all looking similar? Cockerels should have big, red combs and wattles by 12 weeks. Pullets should just be starting to pink up and sprout in those departments.

Mine are always slower to start crowing. 3-5 months before they are confident enough to announce themselves. I do keep multiple roosters. I haven't had one do it really young.

There really is no 'age'. Each rooster is unique, and will start crowing at different times.

In my experience pekin/cochin cockerels are early maturing, and I have had some start crowing in the brooder.
