Pecking chicks

We have 12 laying chicks and 12 butcher chicks. We are having trouble with them pecking each other. Don't know which one is doing it, but the results are obvious. They are together, will it help to seperate the layers from the buthcer chicks?

How old are the chicks?

Do you have them in a brooder? If yes, how big is it?


I just got back into chickens last year. When I was getting everything ready for our day-olds to arrive, I bought red bulbs (85 watt floodlights from Wal-Mart) to use in the brooder lamps and haven't had any problems with our chicks (hatching our own now) picking on one another, except out of curiosity.
