Great info and by the way my husband thinks the chickens get fed better than him LOL. Fresh fruits and veggies everyday for them. "Get it yourself" for him LOL.
The plywood I have over the top of the gate is about 50 pounds (10 feet long) so I am not worried about foxes, skunks, racoons getting in during the day. They come out after dusk anyways.
Once the other girls go into the coop (around 8:00pm these days) I brought the hurt one into the garage locked in the cat carrier for the night. Then this morning she went back out to her set up for the day. I have not been home yet today so I will have to check her when I get home but this morning the wound looked less red and not as swollen. I figure a few more days she should be back in with the group. Also, I was told to put her back into the coop at nighttime when the others are tucked in bed so when they wake up they will think it has all been a dream
