Acting sleepier than normal and not eating are both signs of cocci... and VERY possible with your sand...I just got home and checked on them. She's acting fine.. she's eating and being a brat. That's what I wanted to see! Thanks again for the suggestions!

If she or anybody else appears "off" consider treating with Corid...
Actually.. I take that back... My GUT says... START with Corid! Unless your feed is medicated, then the switch to shaving might be enough change. Even then some people will need to treat.
Classic symptoms... lethargic, sleeping standing up with head tucked back as described in the opening post... It won't hurt the birds, it works by blocking thiamine which starves out the cocci to slow it's growth so the chicks can fight it off. It is in every single chicken poo.
DO NOT substitute vitamins during this time.
I believe you that you have seen improvement. But better safe than sorry... only 1 strain of cocci will present as blood in the poo. And even then it won't be EVERY single poo even from the same bird.
