Roosts are lowered! So now they can hop right up!

I also think having both the same height is good! Gives them options!

I keep a small foam gardening pad in coop for when I have to get down on my shot knees.
Yesterday had to kneel on gravel driveway to roll up shade cloths for storage, got out the knee pads for that.

I always wanted to build my own. Hubby likes this coop because it was our first time and he didn’t want to invest too much. Now that he walks w the chickens daily... I think he would be willing to expand next year.
I am okay with the 7 birds we got for awhile.
I am glad we didn’t build first. As I am seeing so many great ideas for coops on this site. Gives me time to plan my design. I have seen these poop shelves, I wouldn’t of known to do that. Roost size! I searched high and low for that one!
And vents! He had good vents! But I can see why that is important. Being in the coop, I decided to make screen Carolina doors.

Also if I had the talent like some on here... I build myself a new house too!

So I am going to get really good at building! I moved the roosts halfway between nests. Now the chickens are sleeping in it.

new plan - redo roosts again! And block nests until they get in the habit of roosting.
Also decided to make a bigger roost of a 2 by 4

I am thinking of building a coop for sure! But not this year! We just built the run and a shed.

We can save up for the next project
