Pecking the sides of the brooder

Ok our new chickies are consitently pecking the side of the brooder. What is up with that? The other ones did not do that, so I am confused. There is plenty of food in there, but they are all three sitting at the side just pecking away. They eat and go to sleep, but then they wake up and look at my chair and peck at the side of the brooder.

The other chicks would scratch away the bedding and peck at the ground, but this is the side. Are they trying to break open a big giant shell lol?

It's clear. The light makes it look red. If one starts, the other two come peck with it. Like they found some treat.

Our other chicks never did that when they were in there. These are less than a week old.​

Mine did that. One seemed to get others started.

Maybe wait some more and they will stop. When i was raising some Silkie chickens my brooder was white and they didn't peck at it. It's probably normal.

They stopped, they are sleeping (dead chick style) as we speak. But after they wake up and eat and practice flying, they will come over and start pecking again.

MY 17 yr old said they are like the penguins of madagascar (the cartoon), they are planning their escape. They sit side by side pecking lol.​

I have my 10 day old chicks in a big rubbermade tote. They start pecking the sides sometimes. I tap back on the other side and they stop and look puzzled and start up again. Maybe it's some kind of chicken Morse code.

IT is cute for a few minutes, then it gets old. They wait until I just can't take it and more and then go cuddle up and go to sleep lol!
