I'm hoping someone can help us figure out what breed and possibly what sex our Peckster is. He/she is around 3 months old at most now and while I thought we had a hen , I'm thinking she/he may possibly be a rooster. The large legs and quick reddening is what is making me think otherwise. Here's the pics I have and can take more if needed. Thanks in advance for any help you can give :)

The leg thickness isn't something concrete to go on on. There's somebody on here, I can't remember who, who had a pullet with the thickest legs...

Anyway, that said, I do think this could be a cockerel, given the age and the size of those wattles and comb. I think this may be a hatchery quality RIR or a NH.

So far it looks like my suspicions are right and figuring out which breed will hopefully come at some point as well. He looks very different from all the other birds I see at the farm he escaped from but being a meat bird would make sense since that's what they handle there aside from some silkies and another breed I'm not familiar with.

Yeah. But he looks pretty healthy. The red meat birds like yours can live a happy and reasonably long life, should you choose to keep him.

Yes, I plan on keeping him. Actually, in reality, he decided to keep us and we just went with it, especially since the kids named him and have become very attached as well. He follows us around everywhere and even helps himself into the house if he thinks we've been away for too long!
