I am expecting my first batch of chicks the week of June 6th. I was wondering if when they arrive, they would benefit as much from Pedialite, or such product instead of straight water as my parrots, tiels and budgies did when I bred them.

I am new at the chick thing is electrolyte powder a must for mail ordered chicks? I just want to be prepared but I don't to buy something I might not use.

Just use the standard dur-vet vitamin / electrolyte powder from TSC or feed store should be about 5 bucks for an 4oz bag. I use this for all my birds and it only takes 1/10 tsp per gallon of water for baby chicks, alittle more when they get older. I also use this during extreme heat / cold / during a molt and is a must for my meaties mixed at about 1/4 tsp per gallon of water from start to finish.
