Hi,

I really need to trim my rooster's nails/claws, has anyone ever used a Pedipaw on roosters/chickens. Does it work? It seems like a safer and easier solution that clipping them, I'm afraid of hurting him.

I think it would work. I use a dremel for my guys.

I dont know about using it on a rooster but my dogs wouldnt let me near them. They hated the noise and the vibration. It might work better on a rooster since you would only have to accomplish filing down two spurs instead of 10 claws lol.

Being new to chickens, I don't know how tough a rooster's spurs are, but the Pedipaw doesn't work for bigger dogs. It wouldn't even touch my GSD mix's nails. I use a dremel with all of my dogs.

my dh is a manager at a large pet retailer, they really hate the pedipaw because the rpm's are not high enough and can rip and tear at the nail instead of file it down smoothly. I wouldnt use it on a dog cat or rooster at all.

I dremel too! After about 3 of my hard nail dogs the thing dies. my friend has a pedipaw and I just dont think it has the juice to be much use. (hey made a ryme)

The family I got a few of my girls from dremel down thier roosters spurs...... I had to ask cause they looked strange

We were just discussing trimming our roosters nails on the way to work today. We both have experience trimming nails for dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and babies!
Does anyone have some tips for first time chicken nails?
