My Marans just finished their first molt and have started laying for the season. One laid a rather unique egg. The colored layer was soft and wrinkly. After 4 days, it dried and started peeling like a sunburn. Now my brown egg is white! Is there a nutrient problem I should be concerned about? Or is she just readjusting her body's chemistry after the molt? Pictures attached. (I believe the hen that laid it is about 19 months old)

That is an odd one.....never seen that before either.
Had you washed the egg?
Where was it stored?
Hopefully her spray booth is just not up to snuff yet and this won't happen again.

Egg shell was hard under the peel. Looked like a brilliant white egg. Quite lovely actually. Did not wash. Stored in egg bucket on floor - cool area, around 62 degrees, uncovered. I believe she laid her second egg yesterday, based on the color. Not certain it was her yet. It was normal. Weather is up and down, so they are not consistently laying yet.
