i am loving that sound. our chicks came yesterday. initially we were going to keep them in a four season ( unheated ) room. the temps dropped quite a bit last night but they did fine with just a 100 watt bulb in the brooder. the problem turned out to be when the room started to heat up during the day. i work full time so i'm not home to constantly check the temp. hubby gave in and said they should stay in the house for a while. a 60 watt bulb is currently keeping them at a balmy 90 degrees. they are fat and happy! 2 white rocks and 2 barred rocks. just 3 days old.

Very cute!! I can't believe how fast they grow...even faster than that sweet little boy you have looking at them I bet! My "babies" are 4 weeks old and don't look anything like cute fluffy newbies anymore. Enjoy!

Aww they are too cute

Thank you! I swear I can almost SEE their wing feathers grow! Amazing.

Chicken math is already working on me. I want more! My brother got two faverolles --a hen and a roo....when we got these. So I may wait until next Spring and raise a few more babies.

Thanks for stopping by and adoring my little ladies with me. I will be sure to post more pics as they get bigger.

I also just picked up a pair of salmon faverolles! Still babies, but they so far have integrated well with the rest of my flock. How nice that your brother is into chickens too!

He is the one who got me started. He hatched some RI Reds and I ended up with four of them once they were of laying age. Unfortunately we lost them a couple of months ago to a predator. One of them, "Hamstery" ( named by my 6 yr old son) ((and the reason for my user name)) is in my profile pic. I miss them! So we are trying our hand at a new adventure and so far it proving to be very exciting.
The faverolles are a beautiful breed.
