When ours were really little, they'd all go over to one side of the brooder and huddle up to catch a few zzz's.. They'd start to undulate as little clusters of five or six would begin to lay down and create a little 'dip' just about the time another cluster would perk up and create a 'hill'.. The dips and hills sorta just moved through the whole huddle until they all found their places and laid down.
Of course, two minutes later somebody would go "CHEEEEEEEEP" for no apparent reason and everybody would stand up again, so they'd start all over with the neat little 'waves' of sleepiness...
But, man...they really do look dead as hammers when they're sleeping.
Funny to think that was three weeks ago, and today we've got honest to goodness young pullets that are already getting the instinct to scoop out little nests in the shavings and flatten themselves down on it... Chickens come on QUICK!
