Peeps Leg Stretching

When ours were really little, they'd all go over to one side of the brooder and huddle up to catch a few zzz's.. They'd start to undulate as little clusters of five or six would begin to lay down and create a little 'dip' just about the time another cluster would perk up and create a 'hill'.. The dips and hills sorta just moved through the whole huddle until they all found their places and laid down.

Of course, two minutes later somebody would go "CHEEEEEEEEP" for no apparent reason and everybody would stand up again, so they'd start all over with the neat little 'waves' of sleepiness...

But, man...they really do look dead as hammers when they're sleeping.

Funny to think that was three weeks ago, and today we've got honest to goodness young pullets that are already getting the instinct to scoop out little nests in the shavings and flatten themselves down on it... Chickens come on QUICK!

I'm sorry to hear that you lost one. We came close, one of ours had pasty butt in the beginning and it realy took a week for me to feel she was o k even now at almost 2 weeks she is smaller then the rest of the flock.

Our chicks must be about the same age. I noticed the exact same behavior and it was so cute it broke my heart! Now the little buttheads are trying to establish dominance with me and thankfully Keccia told me how to handle it so I'm letting them know that I'm not just mom, I'm boss.

So what did Keccia tell you to do to establish your dominance?? My chickies are getting bigger, and I want them to know I'm top chick around there...
