Pekin Bantams

Good Afternoon

I have the following colors in my flock of pekin bantams I was just wondering if my chicks are going to be "pure colors" or are they going to be mixed I want to try keep them pure but I don't have enough coop space to separate them by color.

I have...

five black hens
two black roosters
two white hens
two white roosters
two blue hens

Well you have too many roosters. They will breed your hens bald and do lots of fighting generally.

Blacks and blues can be mixed and you will get black, blue and splash I believe. That's all I know about color. I believe white is a dominant color but I'm not totally sure.

I would pick one rooster and remove the rest.

White can be either dominant or recessive, and I don't know how it is in Pekins. You do have too many roosters! At the very most, you could try to keep two of them, either having two flocks, or one happy group. If it's not happy, one of the roosters must leave. Or get more hens.
Find out what's best to do given the genetics of your breed, as far as color inheritance is concerned.

I'm not great on chicken genetics, but won't you get lavenders? Isn't that originally black + white?

Those colors are compatible, although you never can really know with whites.

I would keep the black cock.

The white can be dominant or recessive white.
Dominant white is guaranteed to have a black base, however, crossed with black it will make paints.

I think that white Cochins are recessive though.
You don’t really know what recessive white may hide.
It may be black, but I’m not absolutely certain.

I'd make two groups. One group all white and one group blues and blacks. Then you'll produce all pure colors. Blacks, Blues, Splashes, and Whites.

I agree. The black and blue hens covered by a black rooster and hen the white hens covered by a white rooster. if you run them all together, the white hens will probably produce black chicks.
