Hi,
I am worried my Pekin Cochin hen 'Blue' is having reoccurring symptoms of MG. I have been able to hear her wheezing and gasping for a couple of weeks now. And just as I think she may be getting a little better, she seems to be getting worse. I am rlly worried :( she hasn't had any bubbles in her eyes but she did once when she was a pullet but they went away as well as the sneezing. Now she is sneezing, gasping, wheezing and clucking strangely almost like a weak gurgle.

Question 1: Does this sound like reoccurring MG symptoms? She didn't seem to be under any stress. And there are no bubbles in the eyes.

Question 2: Could this be something other than MG and could this be bad? We plan to get her back on some new antibiotics as the other stuff didn't do much.

Question 3: Is it normal for her yo be molting like crazy at this time of year: Autumn? I notice she is loosing a great deal if her feathers lately. No bald patches or anything but I see them all in her nesting box and under her perches and I see them fall out when she's walking around or she will pluck a few out when cleaning herself.

Question 4: Is there anything more I can do?

Thankyou

Respiratory diseases, such as MG are chronic and can come back whenever chickens are stressed, such as a molt, weather change, moving, etc. MG can be complicated by air sacculitis, where the disease spreads, and is difficult to treat. It also can involve more than one disease, such as bronchitis, coryza, E.coli, or aspergillosis. Aspergillosis is a fungal respiratory disease from mold, and it can be complicated by the diseases above, and spread to other organs causing growths of fungus. I would try to get her tested for what she may have, but I would try to get Baytril (enrofloxacin) to treat her since it is a much more broad spectrum antibiotic.

Okay thankyou.
I understand what MG itself is due to doing mountains of research when I first saw symptoms but I didn't realise that it could be another disease as well. Does it sound like anything else to u? And thanks for the name of the antibiotics. I wish I could get her tested but there are no vets around here that know anything about chickens. They just call u in $60, check it out oh there's nothing we can do just put her on antibiotics and see how that goes. So unfortunately I dont think a vet is an option as id say a vet would be the only place u could get a chicks tested around here? I will definitely do a search on aspergillosis, thanks for that.
I certainly hope its nothing serious...
Its good to have people who know stuff on here to be able to talk to!

Anyone else dealt with MG or aspergillosis and know the symptoms etc.? Also what's the best thing to do to stop her from stressing?
