I can't find laying pellets anywhere here in cape town south africa . Can anyone help me?

I would love to own a Pekin duck I have been searching locally and online and so far I've been unable to find anywhere to buy a Pekin duckling preferably day old so it will imprint if anyone can give me info on where I can buy one pekin in nj that would be great!

Here is a great video on how to make it - the video itself is a bit lengthy but once you learn how - it's super easy!! Just take notes during the video and you'll always have your instructions. At the end, he explains all the great uses for LAB. I have a big jug in my fridge and I just pour some into a spray bottle, dilute it and spray everywhere I need. I just make a new batch every year, but he will tell you how you can stabilize it and keep it for even longer if you don't want to keep it in the fridge.  Once, when the pen was really bad, I diluted it into a bunch of gallon jugs and just poured everywhere, as a spray bottle would have taken forever. You can feed the "cheese" to any of your animals...
Basically it works by breaking down all the bad bacteria while propagating good bacteria and a healthy environment for your ducks and chickens. I will be using it again here soon when the monsoon storms start coming in and making a smelly run!

Females will act like they are doing the deed even though they don't have the equipment. We have all females and each one 'surfs' on the other at some point in time. It is usually a sign that they will be laying soon, if it is indeed a female. I think ours laid within about a month of first starting it.

My pekin stopped laying now for2 months is that normal ? We are now just over a month in winter here

You can just feed a grower or flock raiser feed and provide oyster shell on the side...

Where are you located??? You might have to wait until next Spring unless you know someone who has a broody duck right now.


Just a note: Poured a bunch of lab in my runs the other day, threw some fresh pine shavings on top - smell is way down! Also, hung those little vanilla trees (car air fresheners) and it cut my flies down a LOT. I don't do any kind of air freshening because that stuff makes me sick and it's not very healthy, but out in the open air it did deter the flies!

can you post a pic of your pen? I kinda need ideas.... Right now mine are in a type of outdoor dog cage.

Oh my goodness! Lol! I've definitely seen one of our females going flat, so that so crazy! Ugh I didn't even know they were that old!

I only know because I keep track from the hatchery I ordered from hahaha otherwise I'd lose count ! And today we got our first egg from the barred rock hens so the ducks are only a few weeks behind!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY. I'm so excited! It's like Christmas!!! I can't wait!

Haha!! Yea I'm excited too!! Today my drake was really being flirty with one of my hens! He played piggy back for a while, but I don't think he actually did anything. The girls are being very flirty though!

Hey kiddos'. My 2 Pekins, both girls, are 13 weeks now and doing swimmingly One question. How come one has an orange beak and the other one is yellow?
