Will Muscovies mate with Pekins? I currently have 4 Pekins (1 female, 3 males [with no problems yet, but want just a mating pair or more females with him]) and I want a breeding pair of Muscovies really bad. Will the two completely different breeds associate with each other.

I guess I wouldn't care if they mated together, but my main concern is if having a male of each breed with so few females.

Any thoughts?

Hey, yes they can mate but any results of muscovy crosses are "mules" meaning they will not be able to reproduce.

Definitely need some sort of ramp - but I have also found that our jumbo doesn't seem to like swimming as much as the others. The funny thing is, we have a ramp but we have spoiled her by picking her up so now she stands by the pool and quacks for us to pick her up and put her in instead of using the ramp - LOL

Same as countrygirl74... our Pekin doesn't swim all that much. She stays on the ground around the edges talking and drinkin. Could yours be scared of the ramp? Is she slipping when she tries to walk up it? We have blocks for steps to get into ours. So everyone, no matter their weight can get in.

He will walk all the way around the pool to the ramp then walk around it. He has not even stepped foot on it.

When do they start to lay ??? My girls are very very ummmm what's the word??? Friendly? W each other ... In the pool it's neck biting . A triangle of hoping on one another and trying to what I can only guess is duck breeding ? Haha and before only one bobbed her head .. Now all three do it and my oh my is it a ruckus when they start all that. Lol they are 15 weeks..

My 3 won't go up a ramp or the steps to get in the pool either . They quack up a storm to me in the morning first thing to be put in and in the evening before bed . They get out by themselves tho . They hop or flutter fly out . Haha but they are divas at getting in . Ha now my baby geese are getting the same way . They won't use anything either to get in but they can def get out! Lol watch out for those wings!
I've given up trying .. I tried training them w peas and everything ... They hated it . O well . Hahaha besides a pool I've made them a mud hole to play and dabble in so they don't have to have me around 24/7 to play in water they love it and w that and the 2x of pool time they are very happy haha

I got my 2 pekin ducklings yesterday. They are 5 days old today. 1 is wanting to swim in the water bowl and they are sleeping in the food bowl. Any ideas on how to stop this or is this normal?

How long can the duck eggs remain in the nest before they are no longer good to eat?

We had to lift them up on a brick. Find dishes that are not just a bowl any animal store has them like tsc the area around the container is too small for them.

Sorry 1 last question. I bought Niacin capsules 500mg and took the powder out of them and put it in a ziploc bowl. How much do I need to put in their water or should I put it in their food? I only have 2 pekin ducklings. Help please
