Thanks! I haven't named them yet. I want to name them, but was thinking I might wait to see what gender they were??? I don't know what to do there??? Well, the fever started after I kept seeing everyone's awesome ducks on BYC here...

. I knew all the feed stores around here all get ducks in this time of year. It seemed like a terribly long wait....lol... but one of the feed stores closest to me finally got them in. I hurried and drove there and got those first two....then went back to the same place and grabbed the third. I happened to catch both shipments right after they showed up at the store. Their shipments come in on Wednesdays all spring here....the ducks seem to go real fast, but I have to go there to buy a few supplies today and am going to try and be strong and not get anymore yet and try to ease into this duck thing....if there are any there though, it is going to be hard not to buy any....lol. I already need help!....

Oh and to tell on myself.....Pekins weren't at the top of my list when I knew I wanted to get ducks for some reason. Pekins are all the feed store has had so far and I wasn't coming home with nothing each time...lol. Now that I have them, read more on them and look at more and more pics of them....I'm hooked on Pekins and am really glad I have them!

Go on and have fun naming them! Everyone has or has had one named a different gender name. For us, we knew when we were naming them that there was no way to know what they would turn into. DH still had his names picked out before we even got them home. We have Jake, a female rouen; also had Bonnie a rooster. You could always choose non-gender specific names. So go ahead, have fun with it! It will help them get to know their names to hear them while they are growing. If I step outside right now and holler Butter that duckie will fluff up like no ones business..

Went out and checked on the ducks... boy are they having fun playing in the mud!!!!!! I dont think I've ever seen a happier duck than one that's been muddin'. Lucy of course (she's my princess) is busy preening or at least trying to but everyone else keeps stompin' in the mud getting it all over her. (Despite her evil eye, I think she's having fun).

Went out and cleaned the Ducks water tub out. Boy was that nasty... but after fresh water and some playin' in the mud, My male, Linus, decided it was bath time.....

He's white again... for now.

I got him grown up. He is afraid of me. I can't get near him and if I try I'm scared he's gonna hurt himself..he will hurt himself before letting me touch him
As to his tripping over his feet...he could have not had enough niacin as a duckling...it is very important to their development. He could of also had an injury in the past that just caused him to walk funny. Is he crested? Crested- has a poof of feathers on his head? This can cause defects in the ducks development. We have a crested Rouen and she weeble wobbles around. Like DenverDucky said start giving him niacin in his food. We get brewers yeast and sprinkle a small amount on their food. If you have checked thoroughly for injuries and swelling and he seems fine then I wouldn't worry too much. (please note these are just some possibilities, i am by no means an epert). Or he just could have been born this way and always walked in this manner.
Don't feel bad about him being scared of you. They get used to the ones who raise them and don't like change. We also got 2 grown ducks (Muscovy) that were already grown. It has taken 3 months before they would take a treat out of our hand. And that was just the other day. They still will not let us pick them up like the ones we hand raised will. Just keep offering treats. If you can manage to catch him, hold him for a while and coo/talk soft to him and cuddle. Let him go after a short while. You just want to do it so that he gets used to your touch and scent but gets over the fear. It will take a lot of time and patience. Maybe one day it will pay off with ours too. Once we catch them they are fine and don't mind the touching, it's the catching that is the tricky part. As terrible as it may sound sometimes we have to use a net to catch the Muscovy girls but it has to be done so we can check their feet, toe nails, etc...
