Pekin Duck Club!

thank you. I am so heartbroken. I have a no breakable mirror from when my kids were younger. And thanks for the info on the places to help find her someone or somewhere for her to go. It was very large food.

my poor Felix. I was too late this morning. I feel so bad.
Did you ever figure out where the dog food came from? So sorry about Felix. How is Lucie?

My! These Jumbo Pekings do grow BIG and FAST! Here is the male, Bo-Khan, at three days, and again, at three weeks, in my hand. Please keep in mind that my hand is very large! From tail-to-chest, this little beakie is 11.5 inches long! And the female is the same, but wider and a little heavier.

@Strawberryswyrl- Sweet Pics :)

@Pekinsnwoodys86-- I am very sorry for your loss... How is your Lucie? Have you thought of giving her a soft animal maybe? Another thought is to look in the "Where Am I? Where Are You?" Section and find your State there... You might find someone close by who has a drake (or duck) that they'd be willing to give or sell you. I know in my State, I just saw a beautiful Khaki Campbell Drake needing a home... Or even CraigsList. (If you do adopt a duck, it will very likely take some time, but it can be done, and the good folks here at BYC will help you!) Again, I'm sorry this has happened. I know it is difficult and I think that you tried, and that is all anyone could have done. (Hug)

Caught a black bear in the act of trying to get my chickens and ducks last night. Scared the crap out of me! That's what I get for not paying attention to my surroundings while walking to the coop. He didn't make through the fence but bent it up pretty good in some spots. Silly chickens and ducks were all gathered right on the other side of the fence waiting to say hi!! This weekends project will be putting up an electric fence around the run

Very good idea, I have seen pics of what a bear can do to a building and know from experience what one can do to a fence. Hope your babies are okay.

I just can't believe they were all just standing there watching the bear trying to get in and didn't run inside! Guess they haven't learned that their fence is not a force field and that they need to run when there is danger nearby! I'm just glad I picked that moment to go feed them and caught it and ran it off. I will be carrying a gun and taking one of the dogs with me from now on when I go feed them

Was it still day light when the bear came? if dark please lock up your ducks before dark predators are on the move at dusk. But if you have bears I'd for sure get Electric Fence.

It was right at dusk. Going to start locking them up sooner at night. It's hard to time it up here in Alaska because we are loosing daylight everyday this time of year. You have to keep adjusting your feeding schedule. A week ago 7:30 pm was still light out. Now it's almost dark at that time.
