Sounds like maybe a mating display. Henry starting doing something similar a few weeks ago. Looked to me like he was trying to cough something up. He would let out a whistle... I actually thought something WAS wrong with him until I did some research on here. I'm a fairly new duck owner but that's what it sounds like to me.One of my ducks has been lowering its neck then brings it back up fast and let's out a shriek. What is this? Just noticed it recently and only notice one doing it. Doesn't seem to be in distress, its quite amusing.
I get the same thing from people at work. People are just used to traditional pets like dog and cats and don't see ducks as pets. Have you thought about asking the people from work over to see the ducks? They might end up asking you if you have any for sale.
. There is a coworker of mine who got a couple of pekins around the same time I got mine. I live 45 mins from work and a very rural town, she lives in a different city and in city limits. She has chickens and that's okay? But the city won't allow her to have ducks??? Ducks are so much better than chickens I would think.. But my opinion does not matter. She had to get rid of hers. Everyone at work lives inside the city. I am the crazy one who drives so far to work, yet won't give it up because I love the ability to have whatever animal I choose to have.I get the same thing from people at work. I truly am and I love it when you post pictures. It does something to me. Your pair is always so cute in the photos. I love the one of Henry stretching his neck into the bucket with his right eye kinda looking at you. His body is beautiful. And here he is peacefully sitting. He is so healthy. Can you post a couple pics on your ganders? I think they are adorable, too. Do you still keep them separated from the ducks for Hazel's safety? They have that same effect on me! My ganders do too! They are all silly and make me smile everyday!I love that you are in love with my ducks and all ducks because I love to share... Even if it's just a picture.![]()

Oh, my, not crazy for owning ducks at all. I don't get to hold a duck cuz I don't own any but I wish I could have one. I once house sat for a friend who had a pair and I couldn't keep my hands off of them. I love how your daughter is hugging the big cute Pekin. Look at his sweet face. Wow.
