Pekin Duck Club!

Can you tell for sure by their quacks that they're females? Chances are pretty good they are if you also have a drake. If one or both of the Pekins were male, your existing one would probably have been going after them already.

None of my ducks make a whole lot of noise, but when the pekins do its loud and sounds like the traditional "quack". My rouen drake is still young (15 weeks), amd only within the last week actually knew he was a "he". So he may or may not go after them yet, he just very recently seemed to become more of the "leader" of the group over my female rouen mix.

@JadeComputerGal I got him back on flock raiser and I've been giving him all kinds of different leafy greens, carrots, bell pepper, peas etc. He LOVES bell pepper and my uncle has a garden full of good stuff he said I can come get from anytime, so Nibbs is getting good homegrown veggies that haven't had any chemicals on them :D

By going after them, I meant attacking them. Established drakes are usually very territorial and aren't fond of having new drakes show up on their property. It sounds like the Pekins are female.

I meant attacking too, I just didn't know if he would even if they're males bc he's much smaller than them still.
They best get to laying! I've got 8 birds and no eggs! Im getting impatient over here! Hahah

Yay! I was just worrying about Nibbles this morning and thinking I should get in touch with you. Please give him a hug for me!

Here's a weird question and I'm sorry it sounds stupid? But ducks poo ALOT, I know that. Do they urinate too? Like not yellowish but there are wet spots sometimes when my duck has a diaper on and the diaper is wet but no poo? Is it pee or something? I'm kinda panicking. Is this normal?

@Amykins probably has the answer or you could always ask on the show off your house duck thread.

So for those with pekin/muscovy cross, I have a couple of questions.
How is the fertility if the pekin is a girl? (I've heard it can be low)
But wanted to know experience
And if you process your birds: at what age is a pekin/muscovy (mule duck)
Ready to process? My pekin girl got big fast. Wondering what's normal
Sorry for mule duck questions. The mule thread is unresponsive
