Pekin Duck Club!

I put an add on Craigslist to try and sell my excess male Pekins. The only email I've gotten so far is from someone that had two Pekins, and the male was killed by a fox. The female fended off the fox, but it's got a "boo boo" on it's wing and back of it's neck. She would like to give her to me for free along with a bag of food as long as I can give her a good home (which I can). Should I do it? I would love another female to get more eggs. :D
Depends on how bad the laceration is. If it is going to come home with you and die from wounds I probably would not get it. But other wise I say go for it. Can't find a reason to not have more eggs.

I've noticed that my pekin ducks don't seem to like deep water. I've seen some posts about other people's ducks don't like deep water either. I think that's just kind of a trait for pekins.hmmm.

We held ours everyday - they slept with their heads cuddled up inside my sleeves - We daily feed them by hand and we have a "moving" routine (from the run to a designated park with water, to cuddle moment to a "water run" to cuddle moment and back to the reg. run for a meal) . it is established so they know to depend on us. Perhaps one of these things will help you. Good Luck!

so i have pekin ducks eggs that should hatch on friday. last night when i locked them down, two had pipped. by noon today one has already hatched. is this normal? from everything i read i was assuming hatching would start friday and then i would wait approx a day and a half for it to get out. it seems healthy. i have not taken it out is is still in the bator with the other five eggs. all of which showed movement when i candled them at lock down. any directions or advice would be appreciated!

Can someone please help me? I found my male pekin duck lying on his side this morning he is feeling much better now since we bought him inside where it is warm but he is not eating only drinking water and is still very weak any ideas on what could be wrong?

Got 2 more Pekin girls yesterday... Were picking up some meat Cornish and I picked out 2 girls out of the meat ducks.. Can't tell if good lines, or just jumbo. Gah. They seem to like they're new home. Owner says there 4 months because they got them after they got the Cornish.... Which are 13 weeks... Huh? They had some boy rouens who were getting they're man colors so based on that I'd say 4 1/2 months - 5 months, 4 1/2 being youngest. So should get me some more duck eggs soon... Yay.
