Pekin Duck Club!

We're using this exact same sandbox! Unfortunately, it's not big enough for 6 full-sized ducks.

My 2 are sti babies. About 5 weeks old. I just picked up a 110 gallon tub at my local tractor supply for 65 bucks. Im gonna build a deck with thier houee on it and around thier pool.

My lil boy is 5 to 6 weeks old so he's getting a lot of his adult feathers but his wings look rough. Especially when he's wet and his feathers are matted together, I see a lot of the stem part of the feathers if u know what I mean. But the girl isn't like that, is it normal? I'm sorry, I don't know exact terms and its hard for me to explain, and I still can't take pics since my daughter dropped my camera in her tub, she's not even two yet.

It's perfectly normal, they look rough for a little while while they are getting their feathers. But once they are in they are soooo pretty :)

Here is where she started to get rough, it looked worse than this for awhile.

Here's after her feathers came in

My Cayuga drake is going through it about a week or two behind her and they're the same age... Your other duck will do the same thing too pretty soon if they are the same age. Just some are early bloomers and some are late :)

Oh good , that's exactly how his feathers look, I feel better. I was hoping that's what it was

Can ducks eat cooked whole grain rice? It says its a good source of niacin.
Yes.. they can eat cooked or uncooked. Ducklings should just be fed the normal ducking starter feed as its the best balanced diet for them.

Adults can be fed the rice.. but it must not be all they eat as it will not be a balanced diet.

I mix in uncooked white rice with my ducks normal food to bulk it out. My chickens too, love the uncooked rice and will come running when I call them as they know I will scatter a handful over the ground. Its a great way to train them to come back in the coop at night, or if you need to lock them in if you go out.
